Help for the True Color iOS app.

Write to us, in any language. One person reads this, and replies.

Before you write: if something looks wrong with an edit, tell us the iPhone model, the iOS version, and the app version from Settings → Version. Those three lines answer most of what we would otherwise have to ask you.

Your photos

Where are my photos kept?

On your phone. Editing happens on the device, and nothing about your pictures is uploaded to us: we have no server that holds photographs, so there is nothing for us to look at, lose, or be asked to hand over. The Privacy Policy sets out the little that does leave the device, which is anonymous usage and crash data.

Are my edits reversible?

Yes. Every adjustment is a layer over the original, and the original is never written to. Delete the layers and you are back where you started, however far along you are.

I lost a project

Projects live in the app's own storage, which iOS removes when the app is deleted. If the app is still installed and a project has gone missing, write to us with what you remember about it and roughly when you made it.

Pro and subscriptions

What does Pro unlock?

Seventeen of the twenty-nine adjustment layers, masks, Blend If, importing your own LUTs, saving your own Looks, and saving from the one-tap tools. The everyday layers, the Filters rail, crop and export from the editor stay free.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us, so cancelling is done in iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions
  3. Choose True Color, then Cancel Subscription

You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. A subscription renews unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.

I paid but the app still shows the paywall

Open Settings → Restore Purchases in the app. That asks Apple to re-deliver what this Apple Account owns, which is what is needed after reinstalling or moving to a new device. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account that made the purchase — this is the usual cause.

I want a refund

Refunds for App Store purchases are issued by Apple, and we cannot issue them ourselves. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase. Tell us as well if something in the app caused it, because that is the part we can fix.

Using the editor

Which file types can I open?

JPEG, HEIC, PNG and RAW, including Apple ProRAW and DNG from most cameras. A RAW file opens with a develop stage of its own, under the layers.

Can I bring my own LUTs?

Yes, with Pro. .cube and .3dl files import into your own LUT library and sit alongside the built-in Filters. Share a file to True Color, or use the + on the LUT rail.

The exported photo looks different from the canvas

The canvas draws a smaller preview while you work, so that dragging a slider stays instant; the export is rendered at full resolution from the same layers. They should match. If they do not, that is a bug worth telling us about, and a screenshot of both helps enormously.

Does it work offline?

The editor does, entirely. Academy lessons download their photograph the first time you open each one, then keep it.

Something is broken

Tell us what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. If the app closed by itself, it will have sent us an anonymous crash report already, but knowing what you were doing at the time is what makes that report useful.

We read everything, and we answer. If a reply has not arrived within a few days, check your spam folder and then write again.
